“Getting Heard in the Current National Security Environment”

Many organizations are currently struggling with the most effective way to frame and communicate their messages within the current national security environment. Recently, this discussion has become dominated by a narrow vision of America’s role in the world, characterized by American unilateralism and a virtually neo-imperial approach to global affairs.

This project focuses on two major strategic objectives that are essential for those promoting an alternative vision for U.S. foreign policy to gain a broader hearing on their issues.

The first objective is to provide insight into what aspects of the prevailing agenda raise doubts among those who care about international issues.

Secondly, the project identifies which messages work best to influence this key audience.

The project included a nationwide survey and focus groups in Seattle, Des Moines and Washington, DC.
