Wikileaks Reveals Iraq Assassinations

TEHERAN (October 24, 2010) — The classified documents recently released by Wikileaks have shed light on a myriad of crimes and offences committed in Iraq over the past few years, including assassinations and murders.
The leaked documents, which cover the period between January 1, 2004, and January 1, 2010, were mostly written by low-ranking officers who were reporting on “significant actions” in the field.
The whistleblower website offers 325 documents detailing a whole range of killings from high-profile assassinations to the murder of civilians.
The documents reveal that many Iraqi police officers, judges, election authorities and other officials as well as ordinary citizens were killed during the six-year period.
The papers also offer separate accounts of bodies found in Iraq, most of them bearing bullet holes or killed execution style.
One such document pertains to the assassination of the Balad police chief back in 2004. The following is the original Wikileaks document.

Pentagon Instructed US-led Forces to “Secretly” Torture Detainees

TEHERAN (October 24, 2010) — In the largest-ever revelation of secret US military documents, Wikileaks has released nearly 400,000 classified reports about the US-led war in Iraq.
The documents detail more than 1,700 cases of torture kept from the public by the US government.
The leaked documents, which cover the period between January 1, 2004, and January 1, 2010, were mostly written by low-ranking officers reporting on “significant actions” in the field.
The damning war documents accuse the United States Defense Department of instructing American troops to ignore reports recounting torture.
One such document reveals how detainees were blindfolded and hung upside down before being hit on their “foot soles” and tortured by “an electrical device.”

Iraqi Decapitated in US-led Custody

TEHERAN (October 24, 2010) — One of the 400,000 documents released by Wikileaks says that US soldiers from the Haditha Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team transferred an Iraqi detainee in order to facilitate his murder.
According to the document released by the whistleblower website, the soldiers claimed they were going to transfer two detainees from Haditha SWAT custody to an undisclosed location further north because there was “more incriminating evidence” at the other location.
The convoy reportedly pulls over during the transfer to release the detainees. However, one of the detainees was later found beheaded.
A Major involved in the transfer incident had been removed from his post as commander of Haditha SWAT a year prior to the incident due to his alleged involvement in the rape of an Iraqi female.
The report added that the beheaded Iraqi detainee was being held for allegedly killing an unnamed member of the US-led forces over the rape of his sister.
Haditha is a farming town located on the Euphrates River 240 kilometers northwest of Baghdad.
