Gun Control
Progressive Change Campaign Committee
(December 16, 2012) — Hours before 20 children were tragically killed in Connecticut, a man attacked 22 school children in China. None of those kids died — the attacker only had a knife.
Guns kill people. Now’s the time to say it — and to promise kids in our communities that we will keep saying it until there is action.
Sign a promise to kids in your community: “I will call the White House and Congress once a month until common-sense gun legislation is passed.” You can also pledge to attend congressional townhall meetings and help defeat opponents of gun control.
Every time our country faces a gun tragedy, big gun manufacturers fund the National Rifle Association to frighten Congress into inaction — even though regular NRA members join most Americans in supporting new gun laws.
This time, we need to do things differently. We must make a solemn promise together.
Promise to call our government every month — and not let this moment fade away until we win common-sense gun legislation. Click here. Then, pass this email to Democrats and Republicans you know, friends in rural and urban communities, and even gun owners. We’re all part of this together.
Thanks for caring about our country. And for being part of the solution.

THE LETTER
Every time our country faces a gun tragedy, the big gun manufacturers fund the National Rifle Association to kill action in Congress.
This time, we’re doing things differently. Democratic and Republican voters, rural and urban neighbors, and even gun owners are banding together to make this solemn promise:
“I will call the White House and Congress once a month until common-sense gun legislation is passed.”
A Petition Against Gun Violence
MoveOn.org
(December 16, 2012) — Below is an email from Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner from MomsRising. Kristin created a petition on SignOn.org, the nonprofit site that allows anyone to start their own online petition. If you have concerns or feedback about this petition, click here.
It’s time to tell the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Congress: We’re beyond heartbroken. Let’s make today the last day that you block common sense gun regulations that protect all of our families.
That’s why I created a petition on SignOn.org to the National Rifle Association, Congress, and President Barack Obama, which says:
We are beyond heartbroken as we think of the kindergarteners and others that died in Connecticut. This was the third day in one week with a mass shooting in our nation.
We are parents. Many NRA members are parents. And none of us want to live in a nation where children are gunned down. Today is the day for the NRA and for Congress to step up and start proposing laws that protect children and all people.
ACTION: Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.
Thanks!
