ACTION ALERT: Defend the Fourth Amendment:
Sen. Rand Paul Slaps Team Obama
With Lawsuit Over NSA Program
Daniel Doherty / Townhall.com
John Adams said, “Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.” The fight in which we are engaging could not be more important to the future of our country.
(Feb 12, 2014) — Does the Fourth Amendment mean anything anymore? That is essentially the question Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) posed in a promotional video on Tuesday — the day before he formally filed, along with the organization FreedomWorks, a class action lawsuit against President Obama and top officials at the National Security Agency (NSA).
He cited the US government’s ongoing collection of Americans’ phone records as the “modern equivalent” of British lawlessness and overreach during the Revolutionary War era.
Back then, he argued, representatives from His Majesty’s Government would routinely and illegally search the homes and property of British subjects without their consent. How is what the NSA is doing today, he argued, any less tyrannical?
“The Constitution is not a negotiable piece of parchment to be ignored or abused at the president’s whim,” he said. “Washington leaders are expected to obey and protect what they took an oath to uphold. And if this means taking them to court over it — so be it.”

Right now, as you read this, the National Security Agency is watching your every move. They have sucked up every email you have written. They have tapped every phone call. There is evidence that they are feeding the information they gather to local law enforcement for use in prosecuting petty crimes.
There will not be an announcement made on national TV telling us that we live in a police state. It happens slowly, over time. It is happening now. The only defense against it is constant vigilance in protecting our liberties.
Rand Paul is outraged, and is taking legal action against the NSA to stop its repeated violations of the Fourth Amendment’s protections against unreasonable searches and seizures.
Right now, he is asking Internet providers, phone companies, and the American people to join his class-action lawsuit to stop the NSA’s snooping into our private lives.
To send a strong message, we need 10 million people to join our cause. Will you defend the constitution — and our sacred liberty — by joining Senator Paul’s class-action lawsuit against the NSA? Our existence as a free people has never been in greater peril.
I Want to Defend the 4th Amendment
I am outraged by the NSA’s tactics that are in violation of the 4th Amendment and an insult to everything we hold dear as Americans. I am proud to add my name to Senator Paul’s class-action lawsuit against the NSA.
