Petition: End the US Policy of Perpetual War

(January 15, 2017) — As Michael Payne puts it, “The War on Terror is not a war unto itself; it is just one facet of the larger agenda of perpetual war that this government, filled with bloodthirsty war hawks, has conducted for far too long.”
For the last 15 years America has been engaged in perpetual war.
Our government tells us to be afraid, and that terrorist groups pose a great threat to our country. But America has played the largest role in the origin, spread, and cultivation of these terrorist groups with our constant aggressive military policies.
It is time for the United States to end this state of perpetual war, to bring our troops home, and to cease our aggressive military policies.
Please join us in telling President Obama to stop the war on terror. We need to promote peace and communication between countries, not aggressive foreign policy and military practices.
For every 1,000 signatures, NationofChange will send a letter to President Trump, telling him to end the US policy of perpetual war.

We Can’t Turn Our Back on Syria’s Refugees
ACTION ALERT: Tell Congress to Stop Trump’s
Anti- Refugee Agenda — and Admit Syrian Refugees

This week, President Trump launched missile strikes on a Syrian airbase. He said he did it because he was concerned for the lives of Syrians but his policies say otherwise.
If Trump really wants to help the victims of war, he needs to stop turning his back on refugees. Syrian refugees are fleeing horrific violence, and this escalating violence only makes it more urgent that we support them.
We’ve all seen the horrific images from Syria — ground covered with lifeless bodies, many of them children, have shocked the world and stunned our collective conscience.
A doctor in Idlib told Amnesty, “Children are the first ones to die, they cannot fight this back. We only had one child who, thank God, survived.” No one should ever have to utter those words.
People fleeing this unimaginable violence need protection. Instead, Trump has banned refugees, like the ones fleeing violence in Syria, and is trying to cut funding for them. We can’t let this happen.
Over six years of armed conflict, the people of Syria have suffered. Nearly five million Syrians are living outside the country as refugees. The chemical weapons attack showed in devastating detail the violence Syrians are fleeing.
We can’t turn our back on the people of Syria. Thank you for taking action.
ACTION:Tell Congress: If you care about Syrians, you must stop Trump’s anti-refugee agenda.
THE LETTER:
After the horrific chemical attacks in Syria, your leadership on refugees is more urgently needed than ever.
President Trump said that the missile strikes he ordered were prompted by concern for the lives of Syrian civilians. But if the US wants to help the victims of war, we need to stop turning our back on refugees.
I urge you to make a public statement as soon as possible, urging the president to immediately revoke the executive order banning refugees and visa holders from Syria and five other Muslim-majority countries.
I also urge you to oppose any cuts for funding for refugee programs. Specifically, extend the existing funding levels through the end of FY2017 and maintain FY2017 levels of funding for FY2018.
Protect refugees by opposing the refugee ban and cuts to refugee funding.
