ACTION: Tell the Senate to Vote No on the
Largest Military Budget in World History
Massachusetts Peace Action

The Senate is expected to vote soon on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) a bill that sets war policy and authorized spending. This year they’re planning to spend $886 BILLION on the Pentagon budget, the most in history.

As part of the upcoming NDAA vote, your Senators will also be voting on several important issues including amendments that:

  • Require the President to publish a declassified list relating to the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force.
  • Prohibit the use of force against Russia.
  • Provide for the termination of authorizations for use of military force after two years.
  • Close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay by Sept. 30, 2025.
  • Ensure that the Department of Defense has received an unqualified opinion on its financial statements by October 1, 2027.

We also recommend that you call their offices at (202) 224-3121 to make sure they hear your message immediately. Tell them to vote FOR these important amendments and AGAINST final passage of any bill that raises wasteful Pentagon spending!

With the upcoming vote on the NDAA, several amendments that I care about deeply will be decided upon, and I am writing to urge you to vote in favor of them.

Please vote FOR the following Amendments
and AGAINST final passage of the NDAA:

  • 160 Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) – To require the President to publish a declassified list relating to the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force.
  • 162 Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) – PROHIBITION ON USE OF FORCE AGAINST THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION.
  • 166 Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) – To provide for the termination of authorizations for use of military force after two years.
  • 183 Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) – EXTENSION OF ANNUAL REPORT ON STRIKES UNDERTAKEN BY THE UNITED STATES AGAINST TERRORIST TARGETS OUTSIDE AREAS OF ACTIVE HOSTILITIES.
  • 184 Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) – To close the detention facility at United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba by Sept. 30, 2025.
  • 207 Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) – To terminate authorizations for the use of military force and declarations of war no later than 10 years after the enactment of such authorizations or declarations.
  • 230 Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) – To ensure that the Department of Defense has received an unqualified opinion on its financial statements by October 1, 2027.

Voting for these amendments will ensure greater military transparency and accountability at a time when it is desperately needed. The United States should be using its power to promote peace and justice, not military aggression and recklessness. With your YES vote on the listed amendments, our nation would be one step closer to achieving this end.

Please vote NO on any final passage of the NDAA that increases out of control military spending.
