Israel Hits Hundreds in Strike on Refugee Camp
Tell Congress Now: Demand a Ceasefire!
Stop Funding Genocide of Palestinians
Massachusetts Peace Action / Every Action
(October 31, 2023) — As of October 31, 2023, Israel’s siege on Gaza has killed over 8,000 people, almost half of them children. Desperate calls for a ceasefire are echoing around the world.
At the same time, the newly voted-in House Speaker Mike Johnson announced that the House will be moving forward this week with a $14.3 billion funding package for Israel to further aid its genocidal campaign against Palestinians in Gaza.
We must stand up and tell Congress to vote “NO” on taking money from our children’s future in order to pay for the slaughter of Palestinian children in Gaza. We must pressure Congress to support the “Ceasefire Now” resolution.
Your elected officials in Congress must hear from constituents like you, who stand for sanity and humanity by calling for an immediate ceasefire, before it’s too late. Militarists and war hawks calling for more violence in the region are who they are hearing from the most from now.
ACTION: Contact your member of Congress and ask them to support Congresswoman Cori Bush’s “Ceasefire Now” resolution and to oppose the funding of Israeli war crimes.
ACTION: Will you join me in telling Congress to oppose genocide and vote “NO” on this bill, and to support an immediate ceasefire? Urge Congress to join the UN’s calls for a ceasefire, and oppose the $14.3 billion funding for genocide? Your help is needed.
THE LETTER
Stop Funding Israel’s Genocide
Support Ceasefire Instead
I am writing to urge you to oppose the $14.3 billion funding bill for Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. At the time of writing this, the Palestinian death toll has exceeded 8,000 since October 7th — many of whom were innocent children.
I ask you to do everything within your power to oppose this shameful use of US taxpayers money and to cosponsor Congresswoman Cori Bush’s “Ceasefire Now” resolution, which calls for the Biden administration to facilitate a ceasefire between Israeli and Palestinian forces and to send desperately needed humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The United States of all countries should know full well that the tragic killing of innocent people is not license to retaliate by murdering more innocents on a larger scale. If we have learned our lesson from the catastrophic wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that left millions dead, we must push back against warhawks in Israel as it acts in a similarly vengeful, indiscriminately violent manner.
I am alarmed to see that in the midst of Israel’s ongoing siege of Gaza, in which they are imposing profoundly inhumane and illegal collective punishment on 2.2 million Palestinians and killing a child every 15 minutes, the White House and much of Congress has doubled down on its support of Israel.
I urge you to support Congresswoman Bush’s “Ceasefire Now” resolution, H.Res.786, so that the US can use its immense diplomatic power to facilitate an immediate end to the appalling bloodshed in Gaza that is claiming the lives of thousands of innocents, including more than one thousand children.
Furthermore, as a US taxpayer, I am deeply concerned that my tax dollars are being used to support the IDF, which has committed unconscionable war crimes both in the past and during its current siege of Gaza. I urge you to oppose the $14.3 billion in military funding for Israel and its war crimes, and to support calls for a ceasefire.
The US must stop funding endless genocidal wars in our name, and instead join the masses calling for a ceasefire and an end to civilian deaths.
