(December 1, 2023) — Recently, Vermont senator Bernie Sanders sent out a note to his constituents regarding finding that the American public is suffering from a bleak assessment of the country’s social progress.

Here’s Bernie:
Dear Fellow Vermonter,

I recently read results from a Pew Research Center poll which I found extraordinary. When asked whether life for people in America is worse today than it was 50 years ago, 58% said that it was.

Think about that. Think about all the changes that we’ve seen over the last 50 years. Think about the introduction of computers, the Internet, cell phones, 100 channel cable-tv systems, and so much more.

And yet, despite all of that, a significant majority think life was better for Americans a half century ago. Why is that? What has happened to make people feel that way?

What do YOU think? Is life better today than it was 50 years ago, or have we gone backwards?

Hello All!  Please take a moment for your grandkids to tell Sanders what you really think.

Here is what I said.

Bernie, I led your 2015/16 effort in Wisconsin to win the Democratic Primary.  We had organized an independent PAC to do it and raised tens of thousands of dollars to help you win that primary.  You got about 56% of the vote and Clinton got about 39%.

Today you MUST call for and demand PEACE in Ukraine, in Palestine, in the Forever Wars we are still fighting in the Middle East and now in Africa.

YOU must demand that we re-orient America FROM Creating Economic Empire through bullets and bombs TO Creating Peace via United Nations negotiations and Peace Keepers.

YOU must demand the UN Security Council be reformed to stop the permanent members from having the veto.

YOU must take the leadership to call for Building a New America because Biden is lost in the Military/Industrial Complex.

YOU need the political courage we all know you have to buck these guys now before they get us and our grandkids  killed in nuclear war and/or in a New Unlivable World of Climate Disaster!

The Time Bomb is clicking.

YOU are OLD.  So am I — in fact you are about 1 year older than me.

We both have had the good luck to be born in the USA in the dark times of WWI.  The times looked very bad but the sun came out on America and the world.

WE need to work hard to make the changes needed to help little kids being born today to have the good fortune that you and I have had in America.

America today, regretfully, is broken — mainly due to unchecked greed.

WE must FIGHT BACK AGAINST THE FORCES OF GREED THAT MAKE FAST BUCKS ON EVERY WAR!

JUST DO IT!
