Participation of Unarmed Pacifist Forces in
Implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula

KYIV —‑A statement, adopted by the general assembly of the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement on 24 February 2024.
Ukrainian Pacifist Movement, bearing in mind the formula that peace is not equal to war (Peace≠war), supports and will implement in our activities the values of peace, democracy, and justice, declared in the Ukrainian peace formula of President Zelensky.
We agree with condemnation of Russian aggression, demands of withdrawal of troops and compensations of damages.
Nobody could feel safe while the war is considered normal and dictates its rules of lawlessness.
We will act on the basis of belief that democratic society and democratic world must be united for common good and common security.
We will resist nonviolently to Russian aggression and all forms of militarism and war.
We will support preservation and development of democracy. We will protect human rights and rule of law.
Pacifism is a vital part of diversity of thoughts and beliefs in the democratic society. We will preserve pacifist identity, which gives hope for better future without wars, and we will uphold our right to refuse to kill.
Ukrainian Pacifist Movement
NGO Ukrainian Pacifist Movement was founded in 2019 to advocate, practice and protect human rights to peace and to conscientious objection to military service, to work, research, educate for peaceful conflict management, disarmament, peace culture, to strengthen nonviolent way of life and democratic civilian control over military affairs.
We participate in international networks: European Bureau for Conscientious Objection, World BEYOND War, War Resisters’ International, International Peace Bureau.
We condemn criminal Russian aggression against Ukraine. Also, we are nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Areas of our peace work:
- Uphold human right to refuse to kill!
We claim legal right to conscientious objection to military service according to international human rights standards, helping to advocate and defend the right to refuse to kill. - Stop the war in Ukraine and all wars in the world!
We call for an immediate ceasefire, fair inclusive peace talks, and worldwide transition towards nonviolent society. - Build Peace!
We help civilians to survive and live peacefully and happily, remaining civilians. We tell the truth, give hope, help the needy, study and teach peaceful conflict resolution and nonviolent way of life. We strengthen solidarity of peace-loving people and peace movement.
War is a crime against humanity. Therefore, we are determined not to support any kind of war and to strive for the removal of all causes of war.
We understand that wars and militarism make us less safe rather than protect us, that they kill, injure and traumatize adults, children and infants, severely damage the natural environment, erode civil liberties, and drain our economies, siphoning resources from life-affirming activities. We commit to engage in and support nonviolent efforts to end all war and preparations for war and to create a sustainable and just peace.
Ukrainian Pacifist Movement (executive secretary Yurii Sheliazhenko) is a non-governmental, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization established at 29.08.2019, registered at 05.09.2019 by the decision No 2566 of the Main Territorial Department of the Ministry of Justice in Kyiv; listed under No 1503199 in the Register of Civic Associations.

Участь беззбройних сил пацифістів у реалізації Української формули миру
Заява, затверджена загальними зборами Українського Руху Пацифістів 24 лютого 2024 року.
Український Рух Пацифістів, керуючись формулою, що мир не дорівнює війні (Мир≠війна), підтримує і реалізуватиме у своїй діяльності цінності миру, демократії та справедливості, заявлені в Українській формулі миру президента Зеленського.
Погоджуємося із засудженням російської агресії, вимогами виведення військ та компенсації збитків.
Ніхто не може почуватися у безпеці, поки війна вважається нормою і диктує свої правила беззаконня.
Діятимемо на основі переконання, що демократичне суспільство і демократичний світ мають об’єднатися заради досягнення спільного блага і загальної безпеки.
Будемо чинити ненасильницький спротив російській агресії та усім формам мілітаризму і війни.
Сприятимемо збереженню та розвитку демократії, захищатимемо права людини та верховенство права.
Пацифізм – життєво важлива частина різноманіття думок і переконань в демократичному суспільстві. Зберігатимемо пацифістську ідентичність, яка дає надію на краще майбутнє у світі без воєн, та відстоюватимемо наше право на відмову вбивати.
