Israeli Official: “Lebanon Will Be Annihilated”
Jill Stein & Green Party of Philadelphia
(September 27, 2024) — After almost a year waging a US-backed genocidal rampage in Gaza with impunity, Israel is now setting its deadly sights on Lebanon.
This escalation began last week with a series of attacks where ordinary objects like pagers and walkie-talkies were remotely detonated as deadly explosives, killing dozens and injuring thousands.
On Sunday, former CIA Director Leon Panetta weighed in on this chilling development: “The ability to be able to place an explosive in technology that is very prevalent these days and turn it into a war of terror. This is something new. This has gone right into the supply chain. When you have terror going into the supply chain, it makes people ask the question, ‘What the hell is next?’
That’s a disturbing question, made even more so by the fact that it’s being asked by a former CIA Director, while the silence from Kamala Harris, who is vying to be our next Commander in Chief, has been deafening. Meanwhile the escalation continues as Israel has been launching deadly missile attacks in Lebanon that have killed at least 550 people, including at least 90 women and children and have injured thousands more
On Monday, war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu gave a speech in English asserting that his war was with Hezbollah, not the people of Lebanon. But that message was intended to placate Americans, which is why it was spoken in English. Members of his government, speaking in Hebrew, were far more open in their intentions.
During an interview on Israeli news on Saturday, Israeli Minister of Education, Yoav Kisch proclaimed that “…there is no difference between Hezbollah and Lebanon…Lebanon will be annihilated.” When pressed by the interviewer on the genocidal implications of this statement, he *softened* his statement to say “Lebanon as we know it will no longer exist.”
Additionally, this week in an X post written in Hebrew, Amichai Chikli, Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs declared “Lebanon, even though it has a flag and even though it has political institutions does not meet the definition of a country.” and therefore Israel must “…recalculate a course regarding the border line with the entity that calls itself a state, Lebanon.”
There’s a path towards peace if enough Americans know that Stein/Ware represent an anti-genocide, pro-worker, climate emergency ticket to cast their vote for — but we need to get the message out there.
