Sen. Tuberville’s Speech Calls for a
Negotiated End to the Ukraine Waraa

(September 29, 2024) — Here’s a summary of what Alabama Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville said on September 25, with some quotations [and some parenthetical comments. See video of Tuberville’s speech below — EAW].

Tuberville mentions US promises to Russia about no eastward expansion of NATO. But the US expanded NATO seven times eastward. NATO members Estonia and Latvia border Russia.

“NATO’s expansion was on NATO’s terms, separate and apart from Russian input. Ask yourself: how would the US react if China or Russia entered a mutual-defense organization with Mexico or Canada… What if they started basing troops or participating in military exercises just miles from our homeland? How far are we willing to take this proxy war with Russia? Are we as committed to winning as Russia is?”

174 billion taxpayer dollars to Ukraine, one of the most corrupt countries in the world. “Recently the Biden-Harris administration announced their intent to send an additional 700 million dollars to Ukraine IN CASH [is it true?]. Are you kidding me? Why on earth would we give cash to the most corrupt country on the face of the planet?”

Hundreds of thousands dead. Mass desertion. Ukraine is losing. Propaganda media doesn’t tell the truth about Ukraine. “Whatever you hear in the media is not true. It is a slaughter.”

Are we trying to start WWIII with long-range missiles and drone attacks deep into Russia?

We’re losing influence in South America and Africa, due to poor US leadership. (Actually, I think it’s inevitable. It’s a multi-polar world!)

Tuberville says that Putin was wrong to invade Ukraine. “At the same time, I do not think that Ukraine’s border is more important than ours. Not even close. Which we have been completely neglecting….” (Not true!)

Tuberville opposes allowing Ukraine to fire long-range weapons into Russia. We are on the cusp of a nuclear war. “Now is the time for the US to lead and negotiate a peace for an end to the bloody war.”

Tuberville supports a strong military. He wants it “laser-focused on protecting Americans and not woke, DEI initiatives.” (Oh, well.)

“This is about this administration’s funding a proxy with no plan about how to stop or how to win it. The Biden administration needs to negotiate a peace agreement now, immediately, or will there be huge, disastrous consequences coming in the very near future.”
