Ben & Jerry Gagged Over Gaza
MPower Changes
(February 8, 2025) — Ben & Jerry’s is the only major corporation to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and to support Palestinian human rights.
When even so-called progressive organizations kept quiet about genocide in Gaza, Ben & Jerry’s drafted a statement in support of Palestinian refugees’ right to safe passage and called for an end to military aid to Israel.
Unilever, B&J’s parent company, blocked them from releasing it.
Now, Unilever is blocking Ben & Jerry’s from making a statement on Trump 2.0 — forcing B&J into a larger legal battle to preserve and act on their social justice mission.
Ben & Jerry’s Needs Our Support.¹
Ben & Jerry’s is suing Unilever to protect its commitment to peace and justice. The corporate giant — owner of brands like Dove, Hellmann’s, and Vaseline — is pressuring the company to stay quiet on Palestine and, now on Trump 2.0.
Unilever has bullied Ben & Jerry’s over Palestine in the past and has threatened to “dismantle the board and sue individual members if Ben & Jerry’s issued a statement supporting peace and a cease-fire.”²
This latest attack by Unilever blocked Ben & Jerry’s from issuing a policy statement that mentioned Trump. That sets a dangerous precedent for a company like Ben & Jerry’s that does not sit on the sidelines and has supported Black Lives Matter, Climate Justice, and Fair Trade practices.
Take action for Ben & Jerry’s and tell Unilever to back off NOW.
Thank you for everything you do.
In solidarity,
Granate, Linda, Aydin, and the team at MPower Change
