July 16, 2008
Vote To Impeach & Democrats.com & Impeach for Change
More than a million citizens have signed a petition supporting a Congressional resolution to impeach George W. Bush. The resolution has seven cosponsors and has been endorsed by several Republicans. Growing pressure has forced House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to reconsider the "Constitutional remedy." Pelosi recently warned that the deepening political crisis "is, in many ways, more serious than the Constitutional crisis surrounding Watergate."
Congress to Vote on
New Impeachment Resolution
Congratulations to the tens of thousands of people who have been forcing Congress to take up the impeachment issue. The situation is rapidly changing mainly because of pressure from this nation-wide grassroots movement. There is not a second to lose.
This movement is taking off because of the self-sacrifice of individuals.
Breaking News. This from the desk of Florida Congressman Robert Wexler, one of the co-sponsors of the 35 articles of impeachment introduced by Rep. Dennis Kucinich:
“Capitol Hill is buzzing today with major developments regarding our campaign for impeachment hearings for President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Just today, in what could be described as a perfect impeachment storm:
"After stating unequivocally that impeachment "is off the table," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated to CBS News today that the House Judiciary Committee should address the issues that Rep. Kucinich's has raised in his impeachment resolution.... This issue now reaches far beyond the substance of the Judiciary Committee's original inquiry regarding the firing of US Attorneys for political purposes. The crisis at hand relates to our most fundamental laws and of our Constitution. It is, in many ways, more serious than the Constitutional crisis surrounding Watergate."
Nancy Pelosi’s comments reflect the growing pressure of impeachment supporters on all elected officials and the heat from Cindy Sheehan’s courageous campaign to unseat her in the coming November elections. Cindy has made the impeachment of Bush, and Pelosi’s previous refusal to allow impeachment to proceed, a centerpiece of her campaign.

Congress may vote by Tuesday, July 15, on another impeachment resolution offered by Rep. Dennis Kucinich on July 10, 2008. This is a separate resolution from the 35-Articles of Impeachment that was introduced on June 9, 2008.
The new resolution is a single article of impeachment that accuses Bush of lying to Congress about Iraq’s so-called Weapons of Mass Destruction in order to obtain Congressional Authorization for the use of military force against Iraq. Congress passed the authorization in October 2002 and Bush then used it to launch an unprovoked war of aggression and subsequent occupation of Iraq.

Dear Chief Prosecutor,
(July 15, 2008) — Congratulations on your request for an arrest warrant for the president of Sudan. When the rule of law cannot be justly enforced within a nation, it must be enforced internationally. In that regard, I would like to recommend that you seek an arrest warrant for the president of my nation, the United States of America. I have read your letter of February 9, 2006, in which you decline to seek prosecution of George W. Bush, and I believe new evidence compels another review.
Impeachment Cosponsors Wanted!
Submitted by Bob Fertik on June 12, 2008 - 10:55am.
(July 14, 2008) — Rep. Dennis Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment, H.Res. 1258, needs Cosponsors so we can pressure Speaker Pelosi and Judiciary Chairman John Conyers into starting impeachment hearings. (We will update the list on the right as we learn of new cosponsors.)
You can play a crucial role in persuading your Representative to be a cosponsor!
1. Email your Representatives to support Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment
2. Call your Rep. at 202-224-3121
3. Call your favorite talk shows and tell everyone who supports impeachment to sign the petition at Democrats.com
4. Login and click local to meet your neighbors and plan local lobbying actions:
* organize a "Honk To Impeach" event
* turn out and ask questions at community events your Representative will be attending
* pass resolutions by Democratic clubs, local governments, unions, civic and veterans' groups, etc.
* ask community leaders to speak out
Of course most incumbent Democrats and all Republicans have turned a deaf ear to all of our lobbying. So we're also active in House races, encouraging Democratic challengers to endorse H.Res. 1258, and we are listing them above. (We also listed independent Cindy Sheehan because Speaker Pelosi abused the unique power as Speaker by declaring impeachment "off the table," even though it's not her table, but ours!)

Wexler Lights Impeachment Fire in Congress
Submitted by Bob Fertik on January 16, 2008 - 10:24am.
As promised, Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL) went to the floor of the House to demand impeachment hearings, and he set the House on fire with his passion! Watch for yourself:
You can see Wexler holding the printed signatures of nearly 200,000 activists from Democrats.com and our pro-impeachment allies. (And thanks for thanking all of us, Rep. Wexler!)
How to Create a Congressional District Impeachment Committee
Submitted by Bob Fertik on November 8, 2006 - 7:11am.
Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic leaders in Congress say impeaching Bush is "off the table." We must change their minds! Our plan is simple: we will form Impeachment Committees in all 435 Congressional Districts to persuade all of our Representatives to support impeachment.
Help us Impeach Bush by taking the following 4 steps:
1. Join (or create) an Impeachment Committee in your Congressional District.
2. Collect petitions and handwritten letters.
3. Build support for impeachment by holding an educational town forum, writing letters to the editor, etc.
4. Meet with your Representative, deliver the petitions and ask them to Impeach Bush.
Nadler Cites Bush's Impeachable Offenses and War Crimes but Rejects Impeachment
Submitted by Bob Fertik on July 15, 2008 - 3:03pm.
On C-SPAN's Washington Journal, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) declared George Bush guilty of "impeachable offenses" and "some people" in his Administration with "war crimes." Nevertheless, Nadler insisted Bush should not be impeached because it would "distort the presidential campaign." Watch it:
National Impeachment Network DC Lobbying Report
Submitted by davidswanson on July 14, 2008 - 9:59am.
From NATIONAL IMPEACHMENT NETWORK
A delegation of National Impeachment Network (NIN) activists began lobbying Congress for impeachment on July 8. The delegation included: Tobi Dragert, Los Angeles Area Impeachment Center; Sandra Marshall, San Luis Obispo Impeachment Action; Janine Boneparth, Marin County Impeachment Group; and Cynthia Papermaster, California Impeachment Coalition.
We focused as a team on meeting with Representatives who publicly support impeachment, as evidenced, for example, by cosponsorship of H. Res. 333(799) or 1258, or Wexler’s letter to Conyers. Below are reports on face-to-face meetings with Representatives Dennis Kucinich D-OH, Robert Wexler D-FL, John Conyers D-IL, Lynn Woolsey D-CA, Walter Jones (a Republican!) R-NC, and Maurice Hinchey D-NY. We will follow up these meetings with "thank you" letters and reiterations of our requests.
"Netroots Nation" Keeps Impeachment "Off the Table"
Submitted by Bob Fertik on July 13, 2008 - 8:45pm.
It's bad enough that Nancy Pelosi took impeachment "off the table" during the 2006 campaign, and kept it "off the table" despite the accumulation of overwhelming evidence of impeachable offenses.
But it's outrageous that impeachment is "off the table" at "Netroots Nation," which is supposed to be the annual gathering of progressive bloggers and their readers, a.k.a. the "netroots."
The closest any panel comes to "accountability" is a panel which entirely ignores the fact that Democrats control the House and Senate now, and instead postpones any form of accountability until 2009.
A Note to the Peace Movement
Submitted by davidswanson on July 11, 2008 - 4:00pm.
From David Swanson
The peace movement has stood for peace and justice, for ending wars, preventing new ones, and building peace. Our top priority in Washington, D.C., has been ending the funding of the occupation. That work is over for the next year, because Congress has provided that funding.
We can still work against recruitment, we can still educate, we can still agitate, we can still oppose an attack on Iran. But one of our secondary priorities in Washington has been imposing a penalty for the illegal attack on Iraq in order to discourage future attacks on Iran or anywhere else. We have pushed half-heartedly for impeachment, with our main lobbying focus on cutting off the money.
President Bush is a Murderer?

United States Attorney General
Michael Mukasey, at AskDOJ@usdoj.gov,
Over 4,100 American soldiers have been killed fighting George W. Bush's war in Iraq on "false pretenses", which are "unlawful deaths", each and every one, requiring that George W. Bush be "indicted" and "prosecuted" on "murder and conspiracy to commit murder" charges as noted and documented by renowned prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi in his stunning, best selling true crime book "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder," Vanguard Press, VIDEO link CLICK HERE.
"The preferable venue for the prosecution of George W. Bush for murder and conspiracy to commit murder would be in the nation's capital, with the prosecutor being the Attorney General of the United States acting through his Department of Justice", excerpt taken from "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder", Vanguard Press.
In view of the above information, I implore you to indict and prosecute George W. Bush accordingly.
War Crimes Committed at Gitmo?
(July 11, 2008) — A new book claims that Red Cross investigators concluded last year in a secret report that the CIA?s interrogation methods for high level al-Qaida prisoners constituted torture and could make the Bush administration officials who approved them guilty of war crimes. Professor Jonathan Turley discusses.
