ACTION ALERT: March on the Pentagon This Weekend

March 20, 2009
Peace Action et al.

The war in Afghanistan is escalating with 17,000 troops. More war will create greater instability and more threats to US national security. The U.S. has more effective tools to resolve these conflicts. Please join us this Saturday, March 21, 2009. Gather at 12 noon in Washington, DC for a rally followed by the march to the Pentagon, and then to the offices of Boeing, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics and KBR (the former Halliburton subsidiary).

Voters for Peace is one of the many organizations that have endorsed the March on the Pentagon to highlight the sixth anniversary of the US military attack on Iraq and other US military actions around the world (see endorsers:

Please join us this Saturday, March 21, 2009. Gather at 12 noon at 23rd St. & Constitution Ave. NW in Washington, DC for a rally followed by the march to the Pentagon, and then to the offices of Boeing, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics and KBR (the former Halliburton subsidiary).

People are organizing transit to Washington from various cities. You can get information on travel @

The plan to withdraw troops from Iraq is a slow withdrawal that will take nearly as long as all of World War I. The deadline for complete withdrawal is 2011. But, U.S. military leaders are already signaling that this deadline is not firm and could be extended.

At the same time the war in Afghanistan is escalating with 17,000 troops (so far) planned for deployment, attacks in Pakistan are increasing and saber rattling continues with Iran with threats of an attack on that country as well.

All of this is occurring at a time of economic collapse and with a military worn out by the Iraq war.

More war will create greater instability and more threats to US national security. The U.S. has more effective tools to resolve these conflicts.

Please join us on March 21 in opposition to the military-dominated foreign policy of our country which results in deployment of Americans around the world. The cost in lives and treasure for war making ensures the U.S. will become weaker and needs to be challenged by the people of the United States.

Sincerely,

Kevin B. Zeese
Executive Director
